Howard Reichel, Senior Vice President of Operations

Mr. Reichel serves as the Senior Vice President of Operations at In-Depth Engineering. In this capacity, he and his staff are responsible for all contracting/subcontracting, finance, contracts, human resources, and business development functions.

Prior to joining In-Depth, Mr. Reichel served as a member of the Senior Executive Service at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where he served as the Assistant Director of the Systems, Development and Acquisition (SDA) Directorate within the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office. The SDA Office was responsible for specifying and acquiring the next generation of passive and active nuclear detection devices used at domestic and international ports of entry.

He joined DNDO after serving several years in Customs and Border Protection and the Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA). Mr. Reichel received the Secretary’s Silver Award for Meritorious Service at DHS.

Prior to his service at DHS, Mr. Reichel served for many years as a member of the Defense Acquisition Workforce at the Naval Sea Systems Command. Notably, Mr. Reichel served as the Program Manager for the AN/SQQ-89(V) 15 Program; transitioning the surface undersea warfare combat system to COTS electronics with periodic technology insertions and advanced capability builds. Earlier in his career, Mr. Reichel led numerous surface ship, submarine and torpedo Advanced Development programs – including the Submarine Arctic Warfare Project and an Advanced Technology Demonstration Project to field a Mid-Frequency Active Sonar automation capability.

Mr. Reichel has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester and a Masters Degree in Engineering Management from the George Washington University.
